ABSTRACT

Importance
The balance of mercury risk and nutritional benefit from fish intake during pregnancy for the metabolic health offspring to date is unknown.
Objective
To assess associations exposure with syndrome in children alterations biomarkers inflammation children.
Design, Setting, Participants
This population-based prospective birth cohort study used data studies performed 5 European countries (France, Greece, Norway, Spain, UK) between April 1, 2003, February 26, 2016, as part Human Early Life Exposome (HELIX) project. Mothers their singleton were followed up until aged 6 12 years. Data analyzed March 1 August 2, 2019.
Exposures
Maternal (measured times per week) was assessed using validated food frequency questionnaires, maternal concentration micrograms liter) whole blood cord samples.
Main Outcomes Measures
An aggregate score calculated thezscores waist circumference, systolic diastolic pressures, levels triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, insulin. A higher (score range, −4.9 7.5) indicated a poorer profile. Three protein panels measure several cytokines adipokines plasma
Results
included 805 mothers Among mothers, mean (SD) age at inclusion or delivery infant 31.3 (4.6) total 400 women (49.7%) had high educational level, 432 (53.7%) multiparous. children, 8.4 (1.5) years (age 6-12 years). 453 (56.3%) boys, 734 (91.2%) white race/ethnicity. Fish consistent recommendations (1 3 associated 1-U decrease (β = −0.96; 95% CI, −1.49 −0.42) compared low consumption (<1 time after adjusting other covariates. No further observed more than week. independently an increase 2-fold 0.18; 0.01-0.34). Compared intake, moderate reduced proinflammatory integrated analysis identified cluster increased susceptibility disease, which characterized by pregnancy, levels, decreased adiponectin leptin, tumor necrosis factor α, interleukin 1β
Conclusions Relevance
Results this suggest that current improvements while unfavorable profile
