ABSTRACT
Abstract Objective Ectothermic fish are directly affected by temperature changes in the environment. The aim of this study was to evaluate metabolic responses gills Yellowtail Lambari Astyanax lacustris under thermal stress. Methods To end, we used spectrophotometry biomarkers carbohydrate and protein metabolism, antioxidant defense, oxidative damage subjected low (15°C) high (31°C) temperatures, with control groups held at 23°C, for 2, 6, 12, 24, 48, 96 h. Result results showed that cold stress did not change energy demand, defense reduced; therefore, were vulnerable action reactive oxygen species (ROS), presenting increased carbonylation 12 With heat stress, a higher demand observed, which verified an increase aerobic metabolism glycolysis citric acid cycle. High-temperature also defenses, as activities glutathione peroxidase, reductase, S-transferase. However, system could protect tissues from ROS, 6 24 h, indicating Conclusion (1) variations caused adjustments Lambari, (2) adaptive different winter summer (3) recovered homeostasis when even occurrence
