ABSTRACT
The development of materials with dual properties high strength and ductility has been a constant challenge since the foundation science discipline. rapid progress nanotechnology in recent decades further brought this to new era. This Research News highlights few newly developed strategies optimize advanced nanomaterials metallic glasses exceptional mechanical ductility. A general concept strain non‐localization is presented describe role multiscale (i.e., macroscale, microscale, nanoscale, atomic scale) heterogeneities enhancement reputed be intrinsically brittle, such as nanostructured bulk glasses. These clearly form group that display an extraordinary relationship between yield uniform elongation same chemical composition. Several other examples those reinforced by nanoprecipitates will also described.
