ABSTRACT
The synthesis of new molecules and materials does not always involve creating bonds. In their Research Article (e202310354), Jorge Albalad, Inhar Imaz, Daniel Maspoch et al. show how bond scission becomes a powerful synthetic tool to design when the cleavage step is quantitative, selective, carefully controlled. As proof-of-concept, unprecedented Rh(II)-based architectures (clusters, crown, macrocycle) were obtained through retrosynthetic disassembly metal–organic polyhedra (MOPs) via Clip-off Chemistry.
