ABSTRACT
A fluoride sandwich: cylindrophane macrocycle framed with cyanuric acid rings selectively complexes ion by a combination of anion–π interactions and ion-pair-reinforced hydrogen bonds. This compound is the first example purpose-designed host that exploits bonding.
