ABSTRACT
Abstract Phenanthroline‐based hexadentate ligands L 1 and 2 bearing two achiral semicarbazone or chiral imine moieties as well the respective mononuclear complexes incorporating various lanthanide ions, such La III , Eu Tb Lu Y metal were synthesized, crystal structures of [ML Cl 3 ] (M=La ) determined. Solvent water molecules act coligands for rare‐earth metals in addition to halide anions. The big Ln ion exhibits a coordination number (CN) 10, whereas corresponding centers with smaller ionic radii show CN=9. Complexes namely (M=Eu ions could also be prepared. Only complex showed red luminescence, all others nonluminescent. emission properties derivative can applied photophysical signal sensing phosphate anions leads unique change luminescence behavior. As case study, quenching behavior adenosine‐5′‐triphosphate (ATP) was investigated at physiological pH value an aqueous solvent. A specificity sensor ATP relative adenosine‐5′‐diphosphate (ADP) adenosine‐5′‐monophosphate (AMP) found. 31 P NMR spectroscopic studies revealed formation [EuL (ATP)] species.
