ABSTRACT
Abstract The objective of the study was to assess reliability and validity a retrospective self‐report measure potential traumatic experiences among psychiatric outpatients. range evaluated includes emotional neglect abuse. Participants completed Traumatic Experiences Checklist (TEC) ( N = 153), trauma questionnaire known psychometric qualities, i.e. Stressful Life Questionnaire (SLESQ), measures somatoform dissociation (SDQ‐20), psychoform (DES). A majority 115) TEC twice, also posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSD‐ss). TEC's internal consistency test–retest were good, strongly correlated with SLESQ. Associations between PTSD‐ss, DES, SDQ‐20 supported criterion‐related TEC. consistency, area presence severity scores satisfactory. Preliminary findings suggest that characteristics are good. Future should include larger samples patients, as well non‐clinical groups. Copyright © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
