ABSTRACT
In patients with anorexia nervosa (AN) several factors combine to cause osteoporosis, and the risk of osteoporosis increases chronicity illness. The authors carried out a follow-up study in who attended Eating Disorders department Hospital de Santa Maria. average period was 7.6 years. Fifteen were included. Patients answered clinical history questions underwent neck femur spine densitometry. most important variable negative correlations bone recovery disease duration. A positive correlation between time since first menstrual cycle post-amenorrhea also found. However, AN is condition which once weight improves cycles become regular, severe damage structure still likely be maintained.
