ABSTRACT
Dysplasia or carcinoma in situ lesions (NPCIS) of the nasopharynx have rarely been reported. The prevalence, biologic behavior, and transformation period pure preinvasive not fully explained. All cases NPCIS were retrospectively reviewed during between 1990 2000. clinical features all studied. biopsy samples examined using light microscopy hybridization (ISH) for EBV-encoded RNA (EBER). sera taken before after analyzed anti-viral capsid antigen (VCA) EBV titers circulating cell-free DNA concentration.Three identified. Two three subsequently developed into invasive NPC initial presentation. interval varied from 40 to 48 months. In cases, specimens showed abnormal findings on positive staining EBER. Elevated anti-VCA present two lesions. No was detected these patients phase disease.Preinvasive is a rare but distinct entity. Its can be as long 4 5 years. titers, presence cells microscopy, should alert pathologist perform ISH EBER studies diagnose this condition.
