ABSTRACT
Exoanal 4-dimensional translabial ultrasound (TLUS) is increasingly used to image the anal sphincter. The aim of this study was define limits normality for assessment external and internal sphincters with TLUS.This a retrospective analysis using data sets nulliparous women seen antenatally. All had TLUS examination at mean gestational age ± SD 36 0.7 (range, 32.9-37.3) weeks. Anal sphincter biometry, including (EAS) length thickness, EAS proximal rotational asymmetry, assessed blinded against other data.A test-retest series showed good repeatability (intraclass correlation coefficients, 0.619-0.849) all parameters. (n = 111) 30.9 18.8-40.5) years. None reported incontinence. On tomographic imaging, none defects. 17.5 8.4-34.8) mm, being shorter dorsally 16.4 7.0-32.7) mm versus 18.7 7.5-36.9) ventrally (P < .001). ventral reached farther cranially by 0.8 2.5 -4.8-5.1) on average. thickness 3.4 2.0-5.8) thicker than .001).Anal biometry can be TLUS. seems longer ventrally. Asymmetry could result in false-positive diagnosis defects whom terminates more caudally its dorsal aspect, which uncommon. Hence, likelihood substantial published method low.
