ABSTRACT
Abstract Knowledge‐intensive processes (KiPs) have emerged characterizing tasks that are data‐driven, change dynamically and depend on the knowledge experience of workers. Case Management Model Notation (CMMN) language was introduced for modeling unstructured, agile human‐centric processes. As available Business Process Modeling (BPM) methods practices not adequate KiPs, this paper presents an empirical study applicability CMMN to KiPs. After experienced modelers designed models three KiPs scenarios utilizing CMMN, their perceptions were collected assessing support characteristics. Specifically, assessed newly notation elements Three them, is, knowledge‐driven, unpredictable, goal‐oriented, highlighted as ones get greater by when it comes KiPs; participating suggested is mostly reinforced Sentries element. Considering in a knowledge‐driven economy, organizations called transform way thinking manage we value modelers' opinions since they shall apply such future. This research first step assess whether may be “fit” When considering potential modeling, real users also indications future terms application.
