ABSTRACT
Abstract The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), through the Joint Division with Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of United Nations, assists its Member States in applying nuclear techniques to alleviate challenges food safety, security sustainable agricultural development. Soil Water Management & Crop Nutrition (SWMCN) Subprogramme, within FAO/IAEA Nuclear Techniques Agriculture, has made significant contributions development isotopic for assessment soil degradation efficient land conservation approaches. These include fallout radionuclides such as 137 Cs, 210 Pb ex , 7 Be, 239+240 Pu well 13 C stable isotope compound‐specific analyses. methodologies were developed and/or refined work researchers from developing countries who selected frame IAEA's Coordinated Research Projects (CRPs). Internal research activities implemented FAO/IAEA's SWMCN Laboratory Seibersdorf supported accomplished CRPs. thus have been subsequently disseminated by Technical Cooperation Programme assist adopt climate‐smart agriculture reduce that poses a threat environment. This review paper provides an overview conducted CRPs combating erosion over last 20 years highlights major achievements. Examples success impact obtained Morocco, Madagascar, Vietnam using these are presented.
