ABSTRACT
Abstract Objectives The pulsed dye laser (PDL) is an effective modality for preventing and improving hypertrophic scars (HSs). However, the heterogeneity of parameter settings subjective scar assessment methods used in most studies resulting uncertainty with treatment plans. Therefore, we investigated effect PDL (V‐beam; Candela Laser Corporation) on HSs post‐thyroidectomy patients using three‐dimensional imaging analysis intended to provide a systemic optimal protocol. Methods Nineteen HS after thyroidectomy underwent eight sessions 595 nm (with dose gradually increased by 0.5 J/cm 2 ) at 4‐ 6‐week intervals. Patients elevated lesion also received intralesional corticosteroid (ICS) treatment. After every two sessions, assessed patients' Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS), patient satisfaction questionnaire, (3D) skin device (Antera 3D™; Miravex Limited). Results In repeated‐measures variance, mean VSS significantly improved ( p < 0.001), significant differences these values observed until sixth eighth respectively. quantitative Antera 3D™, height, pigmentation, vascularity scores were be 0.001). Significant fourth, second, Subgroup according ICS showed no characteristics between those without Conclusions this study, found that was reducing vascularity, pigmentation 3D analysis. Furthermore, have suggested cost‐effective plan PDL.
