ABSTRACT
Abstract In order to improve the poor solvent resistance and temperature caused by traditional sizing agents, crystalline poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK) is introduced interfacial phases of carbon fiber (CF) reinforced PEEK composites a soluble precursor named PEEK‐1,3‐dioxolane. By changing molecular weight concentration in solution, content coated on CF surface can be controlled different properties obtained. The results shows that, with this method, completely surface, shear strength increases from 43.42 83.13 MPa. Due none any compounds composites, layer well preserved under organic solvents hygrothermal conditions, (IFSS) maintained above 85.4% 90.44%, respectively. Scanning electron microscope clarifies that mechanism interface enhancement comes better wetting surface. Additionally, system investagation has potential commercial value because no toxic reagent (such as 2,4,5‐trichloro‐1‐hydroxy‐benzene or concentrated sulfuric acid) required during sizing.
