ABSTRACT
Abstract Introduction Herbal medicines have been used for a long time all around the world. Since quality of herbal preparations depends on source materials, there has strong need to develop methods correctly identify origin materials. Objective To smartphone metabolomics platform as simpler and low‐cost alternative identification material source. Methodology Schisandra sinensis extracts from Korea China were prepared. The visible spectra samples measured by spectrometer platform. This included necessary measures built‐in research: data acquisition, processing, chemometric analysis visualisation results. result was compared that NMR‐based metabolomics, suggesting feasibility in research. Results gave similar results NMR method, showing good separation between Korean Chinese materials correct predictability test samples. Conclusion With its accuracy advantages affordability, user‐friendliness, portability, could be applied authentication other medicinal plants. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
