ABSTRACT
Abstract ‘DALZ 1308’ (Reg. no. CV‐285, PI 691612) is a first‐generation interspecific hybrid developed in 2004 by crossing genotype of Zoysia minima (Colenso) Zotov and Z. matrella (L.) Merr. ‘Diamond.’ After field evaluations Dallas, TX (2004–2009) Gainesville, FL (2006–2008), DALZ 1308 was selected for advancement to the 2013 Warm‐season Putting Greens National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP). evaluated at 10 NTEP locations (2013–2018) as well (2014–2017) (2013–2017). exhibited diminutive growth habit with narrower shorter leaf blades dwarf canopy height compared Diamond L1F; internode length, smaller node, diameter superior ball roll L1F Arizona, Kentucky, Texas; resistance tawny mole crickets; reduced seedhead incidence density during growing season. As L1F, has shown have winter injury fabric cover Bloomington, IN. Although characteristics varied location, exhibits good turfgrass quality, high shoot density, medium‐green genetic color, extended fall color retention. Initial greenhouse experimentation under moderate shade shows that greater percent green ‘Palisades’, Diamond, ‘Zorro’. Overall, an ultradwarf zoysiagrass suitable golf course putting greens wide range environments across United States.
