ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT Brimonidine stimulates the chemoreceptor trigger zone via alpha‐2 adrenergic receptors in postrema of medulla, which triggers vomiting cats. This case report details occurrence central nervous system (CNS) depression following brimonidine administration to induce a cat that had ingested toxic substance. A 12‐year‐old neutered male American Shorthair was presented hospital after ingesting two leaves Anthurium polyschistum , is 0.15% eye drops intended for ocular were accidentally administered onto upper eyelids, resulting four total. Three incidents projectile then observed 30 min administration. The began show signs CNS depression, including deep sedation and respiratory vomiting. use suspected aetiology depression. Atipamezole (200 µg/kg) intramuscularly; 5 min, clinical resolved. suggests while may serve as an effective emetic agent feline patients, its systemic effects, particularly warrant careful monitoring. potential impact higher concentrations increased dosing volume remains uncertain, highlighting need further research establish safe standardized guidelines.
