ABSTRACT
This study analyzes 34 tools through 442 publications on energy systems modeling, aiming to identify the most relevant trends in research and gaps planning. For detecting these gaps, analyzed were categorized based pre‐defined criteria regarding geographical coverage, sectoral time horizon, analytical approach source. The categories designed be a broad classification with appropriate level of information required differentiate between models. results show that there is lack studies concerned better understanding Africa South America. Environmentally‐oriented account for 50.4% all studied. Modelers have thus shown greater interest studying issues related climate change mitigation than other areas chain. article under: Energy Policy Planning > Economics Systems Infrastructure Concentrating Solar Power
