ABSTRACT
Environmental enrichment is a technique applied to enhance welfare of captive animals by introducing items that create complex and stimulate enclosure. In poor environments, can exhibit abnormal stereotypic behaviors due boredom stress. Animals behaving normally with high levels are suitable preferred participate in conservation efforts such as reintroductions. The aim this study was evaluate the effects environmental on behavior endangered Lear's Macaws held at Belo Horizonte Zoo, Brazil. Ninety hours behavioral data were collected, divided into three equal-length treatments: baseline, post-enrichment. Data collected using focal sampling instantaneous recordings every minute. decreased expression increased macaw activities.
