ABSTRACT
The aim was to evaluate the ability of egg yolk antibody (IgY) in blocking Staphylococcus aureus growth vitro. Specific IgY produced by immunizing hens with formalin-killed S. (ATCC 33593). against obtained from yolks their eggs a carrageenan solution. identified SDS-PAGE and Western blot its activity tested ELISA. A inhibition assay protein concentration determination were also conducted. ELISA indicated that specific antigen; this confirmed blotting. inhibited at concentrations 1–5 μg/ml bacteriostatic function appeared result possibly interaction surface components aureus. In vitro experiments showed immunoglobulin interfered culture These findings indicate immunized appropriate antigens are potentially useful source passive immunity.
