Quality of orthodontic care—A multicenter cohort study in a German convenience sample

ABSTRACT
Abstract Objectives In light of the growing interest in orthodontic care and its effectiveness Germany, part 2 this multicenter cohort study evaluated patient-reported outcomes such as oral health-related quality life (OHRQoL), hygiene habits, health beliefs, potential influencing factors. Methods Of 586 patients screened from seven German centers, data 343 were analyzed for study. At end their treatment, participants filled out a questionnaire either long version Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-G 49) or short Child (COHIP-19), depending on age, well questions about behavior beliefs. Patient-, treatment- occlusion-related factors to account with regard patients’ OHRQoL after treatment. Results all, 222 OHIP-based 121 COHIP-based questionnaire. The mean OHIP-G 49 score was 12.68 14 3.09; COHIP-19 6.52 (inverted 69.48). For scores, nonsignificant trend towards higher male (14.45 vs 11.54; p = 0.061) detected, while inverse i.e., female reported more impairment (total 6.99 vs. 5.84; 0.099).
