ABSTRACT
Abstract Purpose Despite the availability of clinical guidelines for hip fracture patients, adherence to these is challenging, potentially resulting in suboptimal patient care. The goal this study was (1) evaluate and benchmark recently established quality indicators (QIs), (2) outcomes, fragile patients from different European countries. Methods This observational, cross-sectional multicenter performed 10 hospitals 9 countries including data 298 consecutive patients. Results A large variation both within between were seen regarding individual QIs. QIs with lowest overall rates administration systemic steroids (5.4%) tranexamic acid (20.1%). Indicators highest (above 95%) pre-operative (99.3%) post-operative haemoglobin level assessment (100%). median time surgery 22.6 h (range 15.7–42.5 h). LOS 9.0 days 5.0–19.0 days). most common complications delirium (23.2%) postsurgical constipation (25.2%). Conclusion present shows care fractures indicating room improvement. Therefore, should invest benchmarking knowledge-sharing. Large improvement initiatives longitudinal follow up process outcome be initiated.
