ABSTRACT
The major quantitative trait loci associated with bunch weight and its component traits in the East African highland banana-breeding population are located on chromosome 3. Bunch increase is one of objectives banana improvement programs, but little known about controlling traits. Here we report for first time some genomic as revealed through a genome-wide association study. A 307 genotypes varying ploidy was phenotyped three locations under different environmental conditions, data were collected weight, number hands fruits; fruit length circumference; diameter both pulp crop cycles. genotyped genotyping by sequencing 27,178 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) generated. between SNPs best linear unbiased predictors performed TASSEL v5 using mixed model accounting structure kinship. Using Bonferroni correction, false discovery rate, long-range linkage disequilibrium (LD), 25 identified significant most localized Most genes encoding uncharacterized hypothetical proteins, mapped to transcription factors involved cell cycle regulation. Inter-chromosomal LD present population, none significantly clustering 3 supported our hypothesis that filling this control few effects.
