ABSTRACT
This study aimed to determine whether primary surgical closure of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a risk factor for morbidity and mortality compared with secondary ligation. The enrolled 178 very-low-birth-weight infants. group included 34 patients who did not respond pharmacologic intervention eventually required ligation their PDA as well 35 underwent direct because contraindications the use oral ibuprofen. overall outcomes groups were compared. outcome during hospitalization showed no statistically significant difference in terms between two groups. that had experienced more complications associated premature birth such lower gestational age weight. differ significantly outcomes.
