ABSTRACT
We present the technological verification of a size-optimized 160-channel, 50-GHz silicon nitride-based AWG-spectrometer. The spectrometer was designed for TM-polarized light with central wavelength 850 nm applying our proprietary "AWG-Parameters" tool. For simulations AWG layout, WDM PHASAR photonics tool from Optiwave used. simulated results show satisfying optical properties However, high-channel count causes large size standard design approaches. To solve this problem we special taper enabling reduction structure by about 15% while keeping same properties. fabricated and measured spectra not only confirm proposed size-reduction but also improvement AWG.
