Comparison of novel flexible and traditional ureteral access sheath in retrograde intrarenal surgery

ABSTRACT
Abstract Objectives To compare the efficiency and safety of a novel flexible ureteral access sheath (f-UAS) traditional (UAS) during retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS). Patients methods Between January 2022 September 2022, total 152 consecutive cases with renal stones underwent RIRS f-UAS. Their outcomes were compared those another undergoing UAS using 1:1 scenario matched-pair analysis, matching parameters including age stone size. The f-UAS is 10-cm-long tube at tip that can follow bends ureteroscope (f-URS). Results Baseline characteristics found to be similar between two groups. group demonstrated significantly higher SFR (76.3% vs. 7.2%; P < 0.001) 1 day postoperatively clearance rate volume (98.11% 91.78%; 0.001). also had lower complications (9.9% 22.4%; = 0.003), incidence fever (5.9% vs 11.9%; 0.001), shorter operative times (56.5 min 59.9 min; 0.047), usage baskets (17.1% 100%; There was no significant difference in month ( 0.627) length postoperative hospital stay groups 0.225). Conclusion Compared RIRS, showed several advantages, postoperatively, times, complications, less use basket.
