ABSTRACT
Abstract Purpose The study aimed to evaluate audiological benefits, quality of hearing and safety two Bonebridge generation: BCI601 BCI602 (MED-EL, Innsbruck, Austria) in children. Methods Twelve children were implanted: five seven comprising ten conductive loss, single sided deaf SSD subjects. Audiological outcomes tested sound field audiometry, functional gain, speech recognition threshold (SRT50), noise (SPRINT) localisation abilities. Subjective measures Speech, Spatial Qualities Hearing Scale (SSQ12). Results mean FG with the was 25.0 dB 28.0 dB. benefit SRT50 23.2 33.8 dB, respectively. SPRINT 15% 6.7% ability improved from 33.3° 16° 26.2° 17.6°, subjects reported a 17 22.5 20%. significantly even exceeded values their age-and sex matched normal peers. One revision reported: retroauricular emphysema above implant occurred 12 months post-OP, it resolved operatively still being functional. Conclusion pediatric cohort reports significant benefit, exceeding that age- control. combination high makes comfortable effective option rehabilitation
