ABSTRACT
Occupational exposure to bioaerosols during waste handling remains a health concern for exposed workers. However, exposure-related effects and underlying immunological mechanisms are still poorly described. The present study assessed the inflammatory potential of work-air samples (n = 56) in vitro investigated biomarker expression workers 69) compared unexposed controls 25). These quantitative results were self-reported conditions.Personal air provoked an activation TLR2 TLR4 HEK reporter cells one-third all samples, indicating that work environment contained ligands capable inducing immune response vitro. Monocyte levels, as well plasma such IL-1Ra, IL-18 TNFα significantly higher workers, control group when confounding factors BMI, sex, age smoking habits accounted for. Furthermore, significant increase midweek IL-8 levels was measured among Tendencies increased prevalence respiratory tract identified workers.Inhalable dust TLR vitro, may be expected susceptible despite differences between did not differ groups. This due healthy worker effect, or other adequate use personal protective devices adaptation with reduced system.
