ABSTRACT
Abstract Aim Anastomotic leakage (AL) is one of the most dreaded complications in colorectal surgery. In 2013, International Classification Diseases code K91.83 for AL was introduced Germany, allowing nationwide analysis rates and associated parameters. The aim this population-based study to investigate current incidence, risk factors, mortality, clinical management, costs Methods A data query performed based on diagnosis-related group all hospital cases inpatients undergoing colon or sphincter-preserving rectal resections between 2013 2018 Germany. Results total number 690,690 inpatient were included study. 6.7% 9.2% 2018. Regarding treatment AL, application endoluminal vacuum therapy increased during studied period, while relaparotomy, abdominal therapy, terminal enterostomy remained stable. with significantly in-house mortality (7.11% vs. 20.11% 3.52% 11.33% 2018) higher socioeconomic (mean reimbursement volume per case: 14,877€ (no AL) 37,521€ 14,602€ 30,606€ 2018). Conclusions During time did not decrease, at a high level.
