ABSTRACT
24-epibrassinolide overcame the inhibitory effect of brassinazole on barley growth and content brassinosteroids. The present work demonstrates occurrence mainly castasterone, brassinolide cathasterone lower amounts 24-epibrassinolide, 24-epicastasterone, 28-homobrassinolide, typhasterol, 6-deoxocastasterone 6-deoxotyphasterol in 14-day-old de-etiolated (Hordeum vulgare L. cv. Golden Promise). We also investigated endogenous level brassinosteroids (BRs) seedlings treated with (EBL) and/or (Brz). To our knowledge, this is first report related to BRs application EBL Brz terms barley. as a specific inhibitor BR biosynthetic reactions decreased leaves. Application showed weak promotive Brz-treated seedlings. inhibited seedlings; however, addition inhibition. applied alone at 0.01-1 µM increased leaves but 10 lowered content. In opposition leaves, concentration range from 0.1 1 did not significantly affect roots. However, caused decrease, treatment concentrations Brz.
