ABSTRACT
Abstract Difficulties with speech and swallowing occur in patients Parkinsonism. Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) is proven as an effective treatment for function idiopathic Parkinson’s disease (IPD). The effect of LSVT on multiple system atrophy-cerebellar type (MSA-C) unknown. We sought to determine LSVT’s MSA-C compared IPD patients. LSVT-LOUD was performed 13 Parkinsonism (6 7 MSA-C). Maximum phonation time (MPT), voice intensity, Speech Handicap Index-15 (SHI-15), Swallowing-Quality Life (SWAL-QOL), National Institutes Health-swallowing safety scale (NIH-SSS), videofluoroscopic dysphagia (VDS) before after were analyzed reevaluated three months treatment. groups showed significant improvements overall measures LSVT. In particular, pharyngeal phase score total VDS improved significantly both groups. A two-way repeated-measure ANOVA revealed a main the MPT, NIH-SSS, VDS, psychosocial subdomain SHI-15, SWAL-QOL. group experienced less improvement function, but two had analogous pattern improvement. conclusion, enhancing particularly phase, This study demonstrated that elicits deemed be who suffer from dysphagia.
