Evaluation of innovative industrial processes is prone to errors due to scale dependencies. Large scale state of the art installations often appear to be more efficient than innovative technologies. This paper shows the effects of scale dependency for the glass production and how it affects the assessment of innovative technologies using actual data and outlines how it can be resolved by using a LCA-enhanced KPI methodology.
