ABSTRACT
Abstract Aims This investigation aimed to determine the effect of different intensities training on non-exercise physical activity (NEPA) and estimated thermogenesis (NEAT) from a 1-year exercise randomized controlled trial (RCT) in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) non-training days. Additionally, changes NEPA NEAT those who failed (low-responders) or succeeded (high-responders) attaining exercise-derived clinically meaningful reductions body weight (BW) fat mass (FM) (i.e., 6% for FM 3% BW) was assessed. Methods Individuals T2DM ( n = 80) were enrolled RCT three groups: resistance combined moderate-intensity continuous (MICT) high-intensity interval (HIIT) control group. Of 80 participants, 56 (completed data) considered this secondary analysis. obtained by accelerometry composition through dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Results After adjustments, no time*group interactions found MICT (β − 5.33, p 0.366) HIIT 5.70, 0.283), as well 452.83, 0.833) 2770.76, 0.201), when compared controls. No compensatory observed considering both low-responders high-responders BW Conclusions Both did not result any intervention Moreover, categorizing our participants Trial registration clinicaltrials.gov ID. NCT03144505.
