ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Many meningiomas are detected incidentally and remain asymptomatic until intervention. The goal of this study was to describe the management outcome in group surgically treated meningiomas. Methods From 2004 2017, 45 patients with meningioma were at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, their medical records imaging data analyzed. cases matched symptomatic ones respect age diagnosis, location, WHO (World Health Organization) grade, Simpson grade. Results Time from diagnosis surgery differed between (8.6 vs. 1.3 months; p < 0.001). Of patients, 32.6% still used anti-epileptic drugs > 1 year after surgery, compared 7.7% ( = 0.003). Thirty-day complication rate significantly higher among (35.6% 24.4%; 0.001), as well proportion older individuals (> 70 years) experiencing postoperative same group. Conclusion As expected, had smaller tumors waited longer for surgery. Surprisingly, control. Taken into account that many removed due patient’s wish, one might suggest a more restrictive approach, especially elderly.
