ABSTRACT
Abstract The management of water resources is no longer an option but a necessity especially in countries with high rate population growth like Pakistan. Pakistan has high-water scarcity, extremely varying topography, and also one the encountering problem climate change. Therefore, prudent utilization available matter plains as its high-altitude regions. Instead wasting which valuable resource, rainwater harvesting way saving alternative source fresh for better use. aim this study was to search potential rainwater-harvesting areas Gilgit River basin. This research employed SCS-CN technique estimating surface runoff GIS environment. geospatial used four input parameters: slope land, land covers, drainage density. concluded that some lands, those are deserted dry area agricultural can serve sites harvesting, only 4% highly suitable purpose. Nevertheless, 37% investigated shown totally unviable collection installations because steep slopes substantial volume snow. Simultaneously, storage design solutions suggested were check dam, percolation tank, ponds 3.5%, 1%, 0.75% given area, respectively, harvesting. locations catchment planned structures would assist local authorities policy makers provide plans on construction storages optimization
