ABSTRACT
Defining numerical uncertainty is an important part of the practical application a method. In case ship advancing in short and steep waves, little knowledge exists on solution behaviour as function discretisation resolution. This paper studies interface-capturing (VOF) for passenger (kA = 0.24) waves (L w /L pp 0.16). The focus to estimate quantitative uncertainties longitudinal distributions first–third harmonic wave loads bow area. These estimates are derived from results three systematically refined resolutions. obtained reveal that even first load varies significantly along It shown largest local relate differences details propagating deforming encountered hull. also discusses challenges were quantification this complex flow case.
