ABSTRACT
Recent studies have indicated that cerebral abscess (CA) patients with odontogenic origin are on the rise. However, CA often poorly characterized and an unknown etiologic background. The purpose of this study is to identify characterize may based microbiologic, radiographic, and/or clinical findings. This a population-based cohort analyzing retrospective prospective data from patients. Radiographic examinations panoramic radiographs (PRs) or computed tomography (CT) scans were conducted. required fulfilment following criteria admission: (1) Oral pathologic conditions only bacterial infections present, (2) oral microorganisms isolated in purulent exudate brain, (3) radiographically recordings conditions.A total 44 could be included which 25 (57%) as having likely origin. Type two diabetes (T2D) (p = 0.014) Streptococcus anginosus group (SAG) < 0.01) overrepresented CAs origin.Odontogenic cause greater extent than previously assumed. T2D was among CA. When SAG brain pus, had predisposing sinus infection. The identification will contribute understanding etiology infectious disease highlighting importance preserving health.
