ABSTRACT
To develop a European guideline on pharmacologic treatment of Tourette syndrome (TS) the available literature was thoroughly screened and extensively discussed by working group Society for Study (ESSTS). Although there are many more studies pharmacotherapy TS than behavioral options, only limited number meets rigorous quality criteria. Therefore, we have devised two-stage approach. First, present highest level evidence reporting findings existing Cochrane reviews in this field. Subsequently, provide first comprehensive overview all reports pharmacological options through MEDLINE, PubMed, EMBASE search that document effect other tic disorders between 1970 November 2010. We summary current consensus Europe to guide clinician daily practice. This is, however, rather status quo clinically helpful but merely low guideline, mainly driven expert experience opinion, since experimental scarce.
