ABSTRACT
Abstract Severe posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) are connected to a variety of health-related and interpersonal problems, among them the insecure attachment orientations. However, psychotherapy seems improve not only PTSS but also insecurities. In large multicenter, randomized clinical trial, characteristics 85 adolescents young adults (aged 14–21 years) with clinically relevant abuse-related were assessed at study entry, end treatment, 3 months after treatment. Participants either developmentally adapted cognitive processing therapy (D-CPT) or wait-list treatment advice (WL/TA). The purpose was analyze association between entry as well changes in during trial. We found that attachment-related avoidance (AR avoidance) positively associated from both self-reports clinician ratings, whereas anxiety anxiety) related self-reported (Pearson correlation coefficients 0.37 0.46). Changes AR occurred conditions some point (baseline 3-month follow-up effect size d = 0.60 for D-CPT 0.44 WL/TA) avoidance, participants improved significantly 0.75). results indicate connected.
