ABSTRACT
To elucidate the role of Klebsiella oxytoca species complex (KoSC) in epidemiology VIM-type MBL-producing Enterobacterales Poland. The study comprised all 106 VIM-positive KoSC isolates collected by Polish National Reference Centre for Susceptibility Testing during 2009-2019 from 60 institutions 35 towns. All were sequenced Illumina MiSeq, followed MinION sequencing selected organisms. Genomes subjected to bioinformatic analysis, addressing taxonomy, clonality, phylogeny and structural characterisation key resistance determinants within their chromosomal plasmidic loci.Among five identified, K. was predominant (n = 92), michiganensis 11). MLST distinguished 18 STs, with most prevalent ST145 83). The clone segregated a lineage In237-like integron [blaVIM-1-aacA4 genes; n 78], recorded 28 cities almost over country. located ~ 49-50 kb mosaic region multiple other genes, linked 51 phage-like element. organism might have originated Greece, its evolution Poland included several events 54-258 deletions, comprising natural β-lactamase blaOXY gene. A group various clones 12) carried In916 on self-transmissible IncA-type plasmids, effectively spreading Italy, France Poland.KoSC has been one major VIM producers Poland, owing largely clonal expansion specific oxytoca-In237-like lineage. Its apparently enhanced epidemic potential may create danger international scale.
