ABSTRACT
The objective of the study was to compare efficacy external fixation and volar plating on functional parameter displaced intra-articular (Cooney's type IV) distal end radius fractures using Green O'Brien scoring system. This prospective randomized comprised 68 patients treated with 42 locking plates. were followed up at 6 months 1 year after surgery. assessment pain, range motion, grip strength activity assessed each follow-up visit scored according system. At surgery, we observed that showed significantly better results than plates scores for motion (22.0 ± 4.77 vs 19.89 5.05), (19.91 5.4 16.89 4.4) final outcome (87.36 11.62 81.55 11.32). No difference found in pain between these two groups patients. Patients aged <50 years excellent (final score (91.57 9.01) follow-up.External superiority over locked surgery.IV.
