ABSTRACT
The brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys (Stål), native to China, Japan, and Korea, has emerged as a harmful invasive pest of variety crops in North America Europe. Asian egg parasitoid Trissolcus japonicus been identified the most promising agent for classical biological control H. populations. A 4-year study evaluated fundamental ecological host ranges T. well its phenology impact on populations fruit orchards range northern China. In laboratory no-choice tests, developmental suitability eight non-target species was demonstrated by successful production progeny majority (>85%) tested. field-collected, naturally laid masses, abundant associated with Dolycoris baccarum, but also sporadically found Plautia crossota. Furthermore, it regularly reared from sentinel masses Menida violacea, Arma chinensis, Carbula eoa. only that did not support development field Cappaea tibialis. Besides benefit having high Northern risk assessment conducted area origin indicates Pentatomidae Europe could be negatively impacted japonicus. Whether benefits outweigh possible risks will have based outcome additional studies two invaded regions.
