ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Esophageal cancer is the eighth most common cause of mortality in Japan. More than 11,000 people had died from esophageal 2018. The Japan Society has collected data on patients' characteristics, performed treatment, and outcomes annually. Methods We analyzed patients who first visited participating hospitals 2013. In 2019, collection method was changed an electronic submission to a web-based using National Clinical Database (NCD). Japanese Classification Cancer 10th by (JES) UICC TNM 7th were used for staging Results A total 8019 cases registered 334 institutions Squamous cell carcinoma adenocarcinoma accounted 87.8% 6.3%, respectively. 5-year survival rates treated endoscopic resection, concurrent chemoradiotherapy, radiotherapy alone, or esophagectomy 88.3%, 32.4%, 24.4%, 59.3%, Esophagectomy 4910 cases. operative hospital 0.77% 1.98%, curves showed good discriminatory ability both clinical pathologic stages JES system. rate with pStage IV classification that included supraclavicular node metastasis better IVb classification. Conclusion hope this report contributes improving all aspects diagnosis treatment
