ABSTRACT
Abstract Rumex lunaria is an endemic shrub of the Canary Islands, which colonizing Timanfaya National Park (TNP) in Lanzarote. Whether arrival R. to Lanzarote has been natural or by human intervention still a matter debate. To address this question, 100 specimens were collected from seven main and genetic analysis four chloroplast DNA loci performed, covering total length 4809 nucleotide positions. Multiple alignments revealed 49 substitutions, define 30 different haplotypes. Island-specific haplotypes found Tenerife, La Gomera, Palma Gran Canaria, with greatest diversity first island. Interestingly, unique haplotype detected El Hierro shared almost all plants (95%), including individuals sampled TNP. The most frequent present Canaria was only one sample (5%). These results corroborated robust phylogenetic analysis, supports hypothesis common origin populations vast majority those In addition, study rules out singularity that are
