ABSTRACT
Abstract Regional groundwater modelling can provide decision-makers and scientists with valuable information required for the sustainable use protection of resources in future. In order to assess manage impact climate change on regional aquifer systems, numerical models are which represent subsurface structures aquifers aquitards 3D at scale beyond most efficient way. A workflow clearly generate these structural representations from a variety data sources is introduced, applying open-source Geographical Information Systems. The resulting be used finite element method-based simulation tools, such as environment OpenGeoSys. preparation structure model presented large river basin Germany, indicating applicability method even challenging hydrogeological region several stockworks dipped fractured sedimentary aquifers, partially showing significantly changing hydraulic conditions due natural lateral facies changes.
