ABSTRACT
Abstract Associations between anthropometric factors and breast cancer (BC) risk have varied inconsistently by estrogen and/or progesterone receptor (ER/PR) status. prediagnostic of premenopausal postmenopausal BC overall ER/PR status subtypes were investigated in a pooled analysis 20 prospective cohorts, including 36,297 cases among 1,061,915 women, using multivariable Cox regression analyses, controlling for reproductive factors, diet other factors. We estimated dose–response relationships tested nonlinear associations restricted cubic splines. Height showed positive, linear (6–7% RR increase per 5 cm increment), with stronger receptor-positive subtypes. Body mass index (BMI) at cohort baseline was strongly inversely associated risk, positively—and nonlinearly—associated (especially women who never used hormone replacement therapy). This primarily observed Early adult BMI (at 18–20 years) inverse, (21% 11% decrease kg/m 2 , respectively) receptor-negative Adult weight gain since years positively subtypes, leaner early adulthood. Women heavier adulthood generally had reduced independent later gain. Positive height, (adult) BMI, substantially versus negative Premenopausal but (mostly subtypes). Inverse seemed BC.
