ABSTRACT
Abstract Nondestructive quality inspection with terahertz waves has become an emerging technology, especially in the automotive and aviation industries. Depending on specific application, different systems—either fully electronic or based optical laser pulses—cover frequency region from 0.1 THz up to nearly 10 provide high-speed volume inspections one hand high-resolution thickness determination other hand. In this paper, we present industrial applications, which have addressed our systems within last couple of years. First, show three-dimensional imaging glass fiber–reinforced composites foam structures, demonstrate multilayer plastic tube walls. Then, characterization known unknown down some microns possibility measuring wet paints. The challenges system reliability environments, e.g., under impact vibrations, effective solutions are discussed. This paper gives overview state-of-the-art technology for inspection. presented principles not limited industries but can also be adapted many fields.
