ABSTRACT
A set of Ni doping Fe–Ga ribbons were fabricated using melt spinning method. The microstructure was studied using extended X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy (EXAFS), high resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD) and metallurgical microscope. The results of microstructure indicated that as Ni concentration increased, the lattice matrix transformed from body-centred cubic (bcc) to face-centred cubic (fcc), with the decrease of unit cell volume and the emergence of little amount B2 and E21 phase. The result of magnetic and magnetostrictive properties showed that the saturation magnetization decreased with Ni doping. (110) texture in studied ribbons resulted in low saturation magnetic field and high saturation magnetostrction. In addition, small amount of precipitated phase E21 improved the magnetostricion of FeNiGa ribbons.
