ABSTRACT
This paper focuses on the different characterizations of Ce2O3-doped sodium magnesium borosilicate glasses. In this work, concentration of Ce2O3 varied and its effects on various properties of present samples were investigated. The structural, optical and thermoluminescence properties were analyzed using XRD (X-ray diffraction), FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectra), UV–VIS and TL (Thermoluminescence) spectra. XRD spectra definite the non-crystalline behavior of present samples while FTIR spectra reveals the various types of bonds present in the fabricated amorphous media. The optical properties like optical band gaps (direct and indirect) were discussed using UV–VIS spectra. The synthesized glasses were used for thermoluminescence dosimetry under gamma exposure (Co60) at 500 Gy, 1 kGy, 5 kGy and 10 kGy. The outstanding TL intensity and excellent linear response of glass containing 0.2 mol% of Ce2O3 among all the samples indicate that this glass can be used in dosimetry applications in the future.
