Knowledge, Perceptions and Attitude of Researchers Towards Using ChatGPT in Research

ABSTRACT
Abstract Introduction ChatGPT, a recently released chatbot from OpenAI, has found applications in various aspects of life, including academic research. This study investigated the knowledge, perceptions, and attitudes researchers towards using ChatGPT other chatbots Methods A pre-designed, self-administered survey Google Forms was employed to conduct study. The questionnaire assessed participants’ knowledge chatbots, their awareness current artificial intelligence (AI) applications, its potential research uses. Results Two hundred participated survey. majority were female (57.5%), over two-thirds belonged medical field (68%). While 67% had heard only 11.5% it research, primarily for rephrasing paragraphs finding references. Interestingly, one-third supported notion listing as an author scientific publications. Concerns emerged regarding AI’s automate researcher tasks, particularly language editing, statistics, data analysis. Additionally, roughly half expressed ethical concerns about AI Conclusion increasing use necessitates thoughtful regulation that balances benefits with inherent limitations risks. Chatbots should not be considered authors publications but rather assistants during manuscript preparation review. Researchers equipped proper training utilize tools effectively ethically.
